Groundhogs are considered a nuisance because they burrow large holes around decks, sheds, patio slabs, porches and brushy areas. They also feed on vegetation in flower and vegetable gardens and gnaw on trees and woody structures. They can cause damage in a short period of time.
Groundhogs are herbivores and forage on fruits, grasses and plants. Because of their feeding preferences, they do hibernate usually from late October to March or April.
